SUMMARY
In Nigerian society women are relegated to inferior positions, and they are seen as a weaker group with their mental capacity and educational competencies. Evidently, Nigerian women are not only increasingly being relegated from advancing in their career life but recent studies have shown that they are excluded from having a political career which has significant importance to their economic advancement and sustainability. Although there exists no constitutional barrier to the increased participation of women, however, there exist societal and cultural barriers that frustrates participation of women.
