Abstract

This study empirically examined impact of corruption in Edo State Board of Internal Revenue. The specific objectives of the study were to evaluating measures by government in curbing corruption and economic crimes in the public sector; to determine the role played by anti – graft agencies; to evaluate the effectiveness and utilization of public funds by ministry; to evaluate the checks and balances in ministry on public funds, specific research questions like the following were raised. what are the major causes of corruption in Nigeria public sector? what are the effects of corruption in Nigeria public sector? how can the problems of corruption be managed in Nigeria public sector? In line with these specific research questions, the null hypotheses were used and tested in the study. The population of the study was heterogeneous consisting of all staff of Edo State Board of Internal Revenue. A sample of 4 districts from 4 Local Government Councils were used. A total number of (200) respondents were selected using the likert type questionnaire.
