ABSTRACT

This study was taken to examine the self-efficacy of computer science lecturers in their knowledge and use of trending web application in teaching and research. This research evaluates lecturers confidence in their ability to effectively incorporate web applications into their pedagogical practices and scholarly activities.

The study adopts the descriptive survey as the research design. The research instrument was a well-structured questionnaire. The questionnaire was validated by the project supervisor for final correction. The reliability test was carried out using the Cronbach Alpha method to arrive at a value that was reliable. Questionnaires were administered and answers offered were collected and analysed using the frequency count, mean and standard deviation.

Based on the findings, it was recommended that; universities should provide enhanced technical support and resources, to maintain and improve the lecturer’s confidence and skills in using web applications, on-going training programs should be implemented, to ease the challenges of ensuring students are familiar with web applications universities should offer introductory training sessions for students, given the time consuming nature of implementing and managing web applications, lecturers should be provided with time management tools and strategies, establishing a feedback system where lecturers can share their experiences and challenges with web applications will help in identifying common issues and areas needing improvement.
