AN ASSESSMENT OF THE LEVEL OF FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT

ABSTRACT

This study evaluated foreign direct investment levels at the University of Benin, Benin City. Three research questions guided the inquiry. A sample of 120 students was selected proportionally from the university's 15 faculties. Data was collected using a questionnaire. Descriptive survey research was employed. Mean scores were used for data analysis, with a cutoff of 2.50. Findings indicated substantial foreign direct investment (FDI) at the University of Benin, Benin City. FDI outcomes included internship and employment opportunities, expanded revenue streams, enhanced global reputation and ranking, knowledge and skill transfer, and talent attraction and retention. Recommendations include the development and implementation of a comprehensive FDI strategy outlining goals, potential investment sectors, and target foreign investors.
