Abstract
This study was carried out to an Assessment of Teaching Aids for the Teaching and Learning of Agricultural Science on Students' Academic Achievement in Ovia North East Local Government Area. The research was carried out as a survey research using relevant literature from journals, magazines, books, and the internet. Four research questions were raised and analyzed for the purpose of the study. A random sampling technique was used in the selection of 200 Agricultural science students in SSS 2 students from 5 secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government area of Edo state. The data were collected with questionnaire instruments and analyzed using simple percentages. The result revealed that; the extent of availability of teaching aid for teaching and learning Agricultural science in secondary schools of Ovia North East Local Government Area is low, all the respondent agree the available instructional Aids for teaching and learning Agricultural science in secondary schools of Ovia North East Local Government Area are utilized, there are no impacts on the use of teaching Aids on students' academic achievement in Ovia North East Local Government Area, and the teaching Aids for teaching and learning agriculture in secondary schools of Ovia North East Local Government Area are not adequate. Based on the results, it was recommended that students should corroborate the efforts of other stakeholders in the improvisation of teaching aid to enhance learning and promote academic performance in schools, the government should provide incentives to enable teachers to acquire teaching aid where necessary, more reference textbooks for teaching Agriculture science should be made available to update their knowledge both in content and skills, and school management should also assist teachers who wish to improvise teaching aid by way of supplementing the cost, if not sponsoring it.
