ABSTRACT
Waste management has become a major issue in many developing nations because it has not been kept up with the fast urbanization and rising consumption. This research is aimed at accessing the current status of Solid Waste Management in Ekosodin Community, to identify effective and economical refuse collection, treatment and disposal measures and to identify any potential environment impacts from the generation of waste onsite. In order to establish a thorough understanding of solid waste management, the study uses a multidisciplinary approach that integrates environmental science, engineering, economics, and social sciences. It examines a range of urban garbage creation, collection, transportation, recycling, and disposal issues. A survey was carried out with the use of questionnaires. Five houses were sampled, 30 homes were surveyed and a total of 120 questionnaires were distributed. Statistical survey reports the gender and age percentile of the respondents. Statistically survey reports reveals that 35% of respondents live in a bedroom apartment, 51% live in 2/3 bedroom apartments, 11% live in Bungalows and 3% live in duplex. According to a statistical survey, nobody disposes of their home waste in baskets or nylon bags. Instead, 67% of individuals place their waste in concrete incinerators, 14% choose to put it in perforated drums, and 18% prefer to dispose of it at an open landfill. Statistically, survey reveals that 30% of the responders never get waste disposal done, 60% get waste disposal done sometimes, while the remaining responders get it done always The result of this study will be useful to policymakers, urban planners, and waste management experts and researchers, it will provide evidence-based suggestions for the creation of resilient waste management systems in urban settings. The ultimate objective is to support the ideas of circular economy and resource conservation while fostering a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable urban environment for current and future generations.
