AN ASSESSMENT OF PARENT TEACHER’S ASSOCIATION INVOLVEMENT IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PRIMARY SCHOOL IN OVIA NORTH WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA IN EDO STATE

SUMMARY

1. To know the level of parents teachers association involvement in the management of primary schools in Ovia south west local government of Edo state
2. To ascertain if parents teachers association involve in the implementation of policies in primary schools in Ovia south west local government of Edo state.
3. To know if the parents teachers association involve in the construction or renovation of school building in the management of primary schools in Ovia south west local government of Edo state.
4. To ascertain if the association involve in the employment of teaching staff in the management of primary schools in Ovia south west local government of Edo state.

Findings from the study revealed the following:

• That the PTA strongly influences the performances of teachers across the schools.
• That the PTA strongly influences the academic performance of pupils.
• That there is a strong relationship between the activities of the PTA and educational development in the country.
• Both teachers and parents would love the association not to be scrapped in schools.
