ABSTRACT

The study investigated the effects of different phytogenic plant additives (including Cinnamon, Turmeric, Cloves, Turmeric and Cloves, and Turmeric and Cinnamon) on the growth and morphometric traits of broiler chickens. The experimental design used was the completely randomized design (CRD) with a total of 120 experimental birds. The data obtained from growth performance traits (body weight, feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion ratio), morphometric traits (height, toe to back length, shank length, back length, wing length and beak length) were subjected to analysis of variance. The findings shows that the initial weights and final weights of the broilers showed no significant difference between the groups. However, the weight gain were significantly different (P<0.05), with the turmeric and clove group having the highest weight gain and the group fed with cloves having the least weight gain. The total feed intake varied among the groups, with the control group having the highest intake. Weekly feed intake was also highest in the control group and lowest in the cloves group. The feed conversion ratio, which measures feed efficiency, ranged from 1.99 to 3.09. The turmeric and clove group had the lowest ratio, indicating better efficiency, while the cloves group had the highest ratio. Mortality which was caused by extraneous factors indicated differences, with the combination of cloves and turmeric and cloves groups having the highest rates, while the control group had no mortality.
