ABSTRACT
To many Nigerians, the 2022 currency redesign policy will be of more benefits than draw back, as it will be a welcome development for Nigeria in the global race to having a cashless economy, it will lessen corruption, halt kidnapping and naira hoarding and also a tool to curb vote buying during the 2023 general election. Consequently the policy became an instrument that fostered national crisis with harsh implications in the economy, social cohesion due to its shaky conception and haphazard implementation. This study assessed the impact of the naira redesign policy and the reasons for its failure. The data for this study was drawn from questionnaire distributed to civil servants and the questionnaire collected was thoroughly analyzed to examine the reasons for the failure of the naira redesign policy.
