AN ANALYSIS OF THE QUALIFICATIONS OF ECONOMICS TEACHERS IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

The study dealt on the analysis of the qualifications of Economics teachers in public and private secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo state. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. The sample size for the study was made up of 39 public and private secondary schools. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using mean score. Criterions mean score of 2.50 was used as selection criterion. The findings from the study include that there is high level of Economics teachers’ qualification in public and private secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo state. It was concluded that there is high level of Economics teachers’ qualification among male, female, large and small public and private secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo state. It was therefore recommended among others that government should put measures in place which will ensure that there is continuous high level of Economics teachers’ qualification in public and private secondary schools.
