ABSTRACT
Thus study examines the Allocation of funds across various expenditure heads in Nigerian public teaching hospitals, with University of Benin Teaching Hospital as a case study.
The study is guided by four research objectives which include: To identify expenditure heads in Nigerian public teaching hospitals, To examine whether funds are adequately distributed across expenditure heads in Nigerian public teaching hospitals, To place emphasis on the importance of adequate allocation of funds across various expenditure heads in Nigerian public teaching hospitals, To evaluate the use to which funds are appropriated for in Nigerian public teaching hospitals.The population size consisted of the accounts and management staff of the university of Benin teaching hospital and other random individuals and students of the university of Benin.
The study reviews that adequate and proper allocation of funds across expenditure heads in Nigerian public teaching hospitals brings about effective delivery of healthcare services.
Recommendations based on the findings is that regular evaluation of fund allocation processes are necessary to identity any imbalances, inefficiencies and emerging needs, this approach will help hospitals adapt to evolving healthcare demands. Collaborative efforts with international healthcare institutions and organizations can provide valuable insights into financial management practices.
