SUMMARY
The African diaspora as theorised by Joseph Harris goes beyond the movement of the Africans beyond the African continent. It also includes the emergence of new cultural origin that resonates with their origin, treatments, and their need for a psychological renaissance. He viewed the African diaspora as a complex changing dynamics stretching beyond time and geography.1 This work carefully examines the process of the diasporic movement and the dispersal of these Africans towards several parts of the world. It further gives an insight on the ordeals and social conditions they had to experience to bloom into what they have come to be today in the world and to the African continent. In the aspect of culture, it focuses on the interactions of these people from the slave period to modern times especially in relation to their cultural identity. The objective of this research work is to examine the nature of the African diaspora and their cultural relations in comparison to what is obtainable within the African continent. It tries to draw the attention of researchers and students of African culture to the relevance of culture to one's identity.
