ABSTRACT
Cultural festivals are an important part of Nigeria's heritage, bringing villages and towns together to celebrate traditions passed down through generations. However, participation in these events, especially among youth populations, faces challenges in today's increasingly digital world. This project focused on creating sample advertising concepts to promote engagement and excitement for the annual AWGBU NEW YAM FESTIVAL in Anambra State, Nigeria. Different modern mediums were utilized including web design, shirt prints, posters and flyers. The website brought dynamic cultural content online, using bold imagery, animation, intuitive navigation and a contemporary aesthetic to appeal to tech-savvy audiences. Shirt prints reinterpreted traditional symbols with edgy graphics and typography. Eye-catching posters and flyers employed vibrant photography, illustrations and text to grab attention. All promotional materials blended modern and traditional aesthetics, showcasing the excitement of the festival in ways that resonate across demographics. This real-world application of graphic design provided valuable creative experience in strategizing, art directing and producing advertising campaigns tailored to a specific cultural event. The project demonstrated graphic design's power to make cultural heritage relevant, drive participation and preserve the Awgbu treasured traditions for future generations
