ABSTRACT

In this study on "Advertising as a means of creating artificial needs for the public," a comprehensive analysis was conducted to understand the impact of advertising strategies on consumer behavior. The research delved into the manipulative tactics employed in advertising and their effects on the creation of artificial needs among individuals. This was done based on an expansive and intensive review of literature and through the utilization of survey research methods and data analysis techniques, valuable insights were gathered from a sample of students at Ekehuan Campus, University of Benin, Nigeria. The findings reveal that advertising indeed possesses a persuasive nature and exerts a significant influence on consumer decision-making processes. It is evident that advertising plays a crucial role in shaping consumer perceptions and behaviors by creating artificial desires for products or services. The study sheds light on the manipulative tactics employed in advertising and their effects on individuals' needs and wants.
