ABSTRACT
This study examined the administration of correctional facilities and its influence on reintegration of ex-inmates in Oko Correctional Centre, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. Specifically, the research was carried out to determine if there is any significant relationship between correctional educational programmes and rehabilitation of prison inmates in the Nigerian Correctional Services, reintegration programmes provided for prison inmates and pre-release support in the Oko Correctional Centre, Benin City as well as provision of vocational training and the rate of recidivism in in the Oko Correctional Centre, Benin City. Quantitative survey method was adopted as the research design. Data was collected through administration of questionnaire to selected respondents. Data analysis of the research questions was done using the frequency count and percentages while the hypotheses were tested using multivariate regression analysis. The findings in this study revealed that there is significant relationship between correctional educational programmes and rehabilitation of prison inmates in the Nigerian Correctional Services, there is no significant relationship between reintegration programmes provided for prison inmates and pre-release support in the Oko Correctional Centre, Benin City and there is significant relationship between provision of vocational training and the rate of recidivism in in the Oko Correctional Centre, Benin City. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the Nigerian Correctional Services should continue to develop and expand educational programs within correctional facilities. These programs should include a broad range of subjects and skills, tailored to meet the diverse needs of inmates. Partnerships with educational institutions and NGOs could be explored to enrich the curriculum and provide additional resources
