The dynamic relationship between accommodation and fusional vergence is integral to our understanding of visual function, and its exploration gains particular significance in the context of corrective lenses. Spectacle lenses and contact lenses, the primary means of vision correction, introduce unique optical dynamics that may impact ocular responses differently. This study seeked to unravel the intricacies of accommodation and fusional vergence in individuals utilizing these two corrective modalities. A total of 30 healthy participants were included in the study (15 contact lens wearers and 15 spectacle lens wearers )This study also involved comparing amplitude of accommodation between contact lens wearers and the normal average expected amplitude of accommodation for paricipants age using the Hoffstetter’s formula same procedure was also carried out to compare amplitude of accommodation in spectacle lens wearers and the normal expected average using theHoffstetter’s formula ,the battery of tests used in vision screening for this study included refraction, best corrected distance visual acuity, accommodation and vergence functions. The accommodation functions assessed were amplitude of accommodation and accommodation facility. Vergence functions included near fusional vergence and distance fusional vergence. Repeated comparison and analysis of data using the independent t-test of the positive fusional vergence and negative fusional vergence between sontact lens and spectacle lens wearers revealed no significant differences with p value of 0.5852 for Positive fusional vergence and a p value of 0.319 revealed no significant difference
The mann Whitney U test was use to analyse and compare amplitude of accommodation between contact lens wearers and spectacle lens wearers revealed no statisticallysignificantdifference between both groups with a p value of 0.1868
The paired T test analysis of that amplitude of accommodation in contact lens wearers and spectacle lens wearers and normal expected values showed no significant difference in obtained amplitude of accommodation from expected with contacted lens wearers having a p value of 0.486 However there was a significant statistical difference between the obtained and expected amplitude of accommodation in spectacle lens wearers having a p value of 0.0036 vergence. These results indicated that the two different corrective modalities do not affect accommodation and fusional vergences necessarily in different ways .
