ACCESSING BIOLOGY TEACHER'S STATE OF READINESS FOR INTEGRATING ICT

ABSTRACT

The study accessed the state of readiness of Biology teachers for integrating ICT in teaching Biology concepts In order to accomplish the study's objective, four research topics were posed and investigated. Fifty science educators from ten different public schools in the Egor LGA of Edo state participated in the survey. One method of gathering information in descriptive survey research was the use of questionnaires. The data was analysed by calculating the mean and standard deviation. The findings showed that in certain schools in Edo state, students' experiences in biology classes are impacted by their instructors' awareness, competency, and understanding of incorporating educational technology. In light of the study's findings, the researchers made a number of recommendations. One of these was that the Ministry of Education and nongovernmental organisations should conduct campaigns educating secondary school teachers on the significance of using ICT in the classroom. In addition, seminars and media may help bring attention to the significant impact of ICT on education by raising awareness among staff and students. The onus for raising consciousness about the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the classroom should first fall on school administrators. Promoting such awareness may be achieved by making sure that instructors always use ICT and by providing the necessary tools for them to do so. Teachers' proficiency in making good use of these technological resources in the classroom need to be closely monitored by the national education ministry. State and federal governments, the Department of Education, and policymakers Schools should implement rules that encourage the use of technology in the classroom.
