ABSTRACT

This Abstract provides a concise overview of the research conducted on the abuse of men by women in the works of Tracie Utoh Our Wives have Gone Mad Again and Lola shoneyin. The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives. The sociological critical method was adopted for this work. Thus, the plays have been analyzed in relation to the social and cultural context from which they emanated. The research also hopes to shed light on the ignored dynamics of gender based violence, with a focus on situations in which women assault men while in positions of authority. It also explore the motives, societal settings and power relationships that support the continuation of these acts within the narrative, and also investigate how gender roles, cultural expectations and societal standard affect experiences of the characters and the abuse that is committed.
