ABSTRACT
This study, is carried out in order to provide “A Systemic Functional Analysis of Doyle Edeni’s A Long Way Home, using the poems “A Long Way Home”, “Bus Stop”, and “Towards My Journey’s End”. This research takes on Halliday’s three metafunctions of Language, Textual metafunction, Interpersonal Metafunction, and Ideational Metafunction. This theoretical frame work is used to analyze the lines and stanzas of the three poems earlier mentioned. The simple clauses in each poem are brought out and analyzed according to the tenets of Halliday’s Metafunction. This essay is both qualitative and quantitative.
