ABSTRACT
The research was carried out to ascertain a Survey on the Relevance of Business Education Program to Economic Development. Three (3) research questions guided the conduct of research work.
A descriptive survey method was used for this study. The population of the study comprised of 140 individuals who have been through or are currently enrolled in a business education program. A structured questionaire which was validated by three lecturers in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education in University of Benin was used for data collection. This instrument was administered once to 20 respondents who were not part of the study population and the coefficient derived was reliability of the instrument.
The survey conducted on the relevance of business education programs to economic development reveals a strong relationship between business education programs and economic development in Nigeria. Business education equips individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to the economy through entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. The findings suggest that investing in business education programs can lead to enhanced economic growth, job creation, and overall prosperity. Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that Governments should prioritize the funding and support of business education programs at all levels to ensure a constant supply of skilled professionals in the workforce. It was also recommended that Government Should Encourage entrepreneurship and innovation through mentorship programs and so on to support business graduates in starting their ventures.
