ABSTRACT
This study aimed at examining the survey of information and communication technology in the teaching and learning process of adult education, comprises of five research questions. The purpose of this study to look into the impact of ICT in the delivery of adult education, to determine if ICT is effective in the teaching and learning process of adult education program, to examine if ICT is useful in adult education delivery , to examine the the challenges facing the use of ICT in adult education.
In the course of this study the descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consist of 615 participants with a sample size of 90 students and instructor. A structured questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated by the researchers’ supervisor before administration. Data from the questionnaire were presented in tables and were analysed using mean and standard deviation.
The finding of the study revealed that ICTs as catalysts for change; change in working conditions, handling and exchanging information, teaching methods, learning approaches, scientific research and accessing information. The findings also reveal some factors acting as impediments to the impacts of ICT on adult education delivery which are inadequate and ‘;’unreliable ICT infrastructures, lack of training facilities, inadequate personnel,lack of technical know-how etc. The study concludes that information and communication technology has contributed immensely to the delivery of adult education programmes regardless of all the limitations characterizing its application. The result of findings and their implications on adult education delivery are discussed and recommendations suggested.
