ABSTRACT

Eaves are the part of a roof that connects with the exterior walls of a building to provide shade and protect the building from climatic factors. Eaves are roof extensions that are used to regulate the indoor environments of a building while protecting it from direct solar radiation. The study aims to examine the modern trends of eave design in Eksodin, Benin City, Nigeria and investigate the advantages and disadvantages of this eave design pattern. The study revealed that a large percentage of the residents were satisfied with the type of eaves present in their residence in Eksodin. The research also showed the importance of eaves in Ekosodin.
