ABSTRACT

The aim of this project ‘A STUDY OF BAMBOO AS A SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL IN CONSTRUCTION’ is the opportunity to provide a vast knowledge and understanding of bamboo as a construction material that is sustainable and available for building. By appraising the environmental and performance attributes, the project will highlight the potential of bamboo to reduce the environmental impact in construction. Since the construction industry is a significant contributor to environmental concerns, with resource depletion, greenhouse gas emissions, and waste generation being major issues. Considering local context, the project will offer insights into the feasibility and practicality of implementing this sustainable material in construction projects within your region while also addressing the challenges and opportunities for widespread implementation in the construction sector. Bamboo, the so-called tallest grass in the world typically grown in different parts of the tropical forest of tropical nations with several genera and species. It is Environment friendly, Accessible to the poor, a Self-renewing resource, Fast-growing, and a house made of bamboo materials. This paper revealed the utilization of Bamboo, preferably as a construction and industrial material development of bamboo-based products. Nowadays, in the construction industry and other Civil Engineering works all over the world, this paper aims to present the potentiality of the structural strength of treated bamboo as a low-cost, economical, sustainable alternative construction material and for other civil engineering works, especially for structural stability of Bamboo mortar infill joint connections, the strength using bamboo as structural reinforcements for the Concrete Columns, Concrete beams, Concrete footing; soil slope protections, bamboo as composite materials. Treated naturally, bamboo's mechanical properties include Physical, Chemical,  Morphology, and Physicochemical analysis based on ASTM standards. The results were compared according to treatment, species, and curing age and according to bamboo species worldwide.
