CONCLUSION

 From, the discussion, this long essay had examined the geography and traditions of origin of the Igarra people, the pattern of settlement, political and social economic structure of Igarra, the origin, nature and element of Aba festival and the contribution of Aba festival to people of Igarra. The study first and foremost clarifies the meaning and concept of festival. The study noted that festival is a set of activities and practice designed to entertain the people of a particular community. Festival serves to meet specific needs as well as to serve as means of communication of cultural practice and thus also remind people of their tradition and in recent times also helps in unity among families. The study stated that festival such as Aba could serve as an instrument of communication of cultural values and tradition to younger generation.

The study noted the cultural diversity of Africa continent and the varities of unique but similar festivals common to Africa. It is continent blessed with abundance natural resources, happy people and home grow cultures that are always manifested in seasoned festivals. Aba festival is unique to the people of Igarra and Africa as whole. The people of Igarra see it as way of showcasing their socio-cultural activities and values. The Aba festival is centered on the traditions and norms of the Igarra people. It is part of the requirement for obtaining chieftaincy titles and it is usually held every six years. The study revealed that, the festival is rooted in the socio-political and economic development of Igarra. During the period of the festival, economic activities in Igarra are strengthen as people purchased various items for costume and decoration, cooking to entertainment friends and well-wishers.
