ABSTRACT
The research investigates the sociolinguistics analysis terms in the Yoruba Language. It is a study which explores the relationship between language and society. This study aims to recognize the sorts of capacities and social components of address terms. There are ten sorts of address terms utilized in this research. Address Terms in Yoruba is one of the most seasoned address terms used, they incorporate individual and family games related with pleasantness and triumphs. This research is strictly a qualitative one . The data were collected from various sources, primary and secondary 10 so as to have an effective and workable data for the research and employs the “Speech Act Theory “ by J. L. Austin’s for the analysis of data. After this research this study was able to realize that address terms used in the Yoruba land shows the level of relationship and the level of intimacy between speech participants. This relationship may be official, casual or informal. Speech setting play a vital role in the choice of address terms used by the Yoruba speakers. And lastly some social factors like social status, family relationship, age, degree of intimacy and occupational hierarchy can affect the use of address terms in the Yoruba land. The use of address terms in Yoruba land is an important aspect of their culture and communication. Address terms are words or phrases used to show respect or familiarity when talking to someone. In Yoruba culture, these terms play a significant role in establishing hierarchy and social relationships. All languages have different ways of addressing our loved ones to express our love for them. Expressing love is tied majorly to ideas and things that depict possession, strength, praises and value.
