ABSTRACT This research work titled “A Sociolinguistic analysis of Uro festival", reflects a quick overview of people, as well as their religion, profession, and way of life. To the Inemen people, the Inemen Uro celebration is not just any festival; it is a reflection of the people's culture, heritage, and language, all of which are strongly rooted in the people's culture. The research’s focus is on analysing and examining the festival's components and symbolic meaning of the nonverbal and verbal aspect of communication in the festival, the relationship between language and culture. The framework of this research is Ethnography of communication. One of the findings of this research work is the nonverbal communication of this festival. It involves interactions that allows people to communicate with one another without speaking. Five chapters make up the division of this work for discussion. The focus was introduced in chapter one, along with the language of study and the people who speak it, the aim and objective of the study, and the methodology used to collect data for this work. The primary data for this work includes interviews and direct observation, while the secondary data came from books, journals, and online sources.
