SUMMARY
Chapter one introduced the background of the study, followed by a brief discussion on the Igbo language and its speaker. An attempt was made to highlight the aims and objectives of the work and the method of data collection was discussed.
Chapter two was a review of previous work on language, sociolinguistics, cultures and greetings which served as a guide towards the present study.
Chapter three focused on the theoretical framework adopted for the analysis of this work.
Chapter four focused on data presentation where the patterns of greetings in the Igbo language were presented and discussed.
