ABSTRACT
This research examines colour terminology in the Ẹdo language, Colour is important in culture and language because it allows people to convey their feelings, perceptions, and cultural ideas. This study analyzes colour classification and naming patterns in Ẹdo, using lexical data and cultural practices. This study analyzes the semantic distinctions and cultural linkages associated with colour terms in Ẹdo to understand the principles governing colour perception and expression in the language. This study explores the significance and symbolic implications of colour in folklore, art, and traditional rituals. The method of data collection involves the primary and secondary sources of which the primary source includes data gotten from interviews on competent speakers of the Ẹdo language, while the secondary source includes materials and journals online. The study made a series of findings which are a symphony of insights into the sociocultural and moral ideologies communicated through these colours. It is the recommendation of this study that Ẹdo colours are a bedrock of socio-cultural and linguistic resources which need extensive study and documentation for the sake of posterity.
