ABSTRACT

This academic project looks at how top Nigerian politacal commentators Bayo Onanuga and Reno Omokri use language to engage in the (un) intentional political cyberbullying on social media. The research finds they intentionally use rhetorical devices to attack opponents. This makes their messages extreme to hurt others' reputations and credibility. The study also sees they make assumptions to make opponents look bad. They imply things about their opponents without proof to try to shape how people think. Their posts show strong political interests rather than caring about facts or ethics. Overall, their language shows dangerous views of politics as war, not working together. Their messages mislead, generalize, and humiliate to push their agendas. This harms debate and divides people.
