ABSTRACT
This research work emphasizes and explores pragmatic analysis of non-verbal communication, a case study of gestures in Yoruba, Akure community, also taking into consideration the cultural belief of these gestures in various situational contexts. The objective is to bring out the pragmatic analysis of gestures as used in Akure community as different from other communities in various situational contexts.
The method of direct contact was used to elicit data for this study. Informants who are natives of Akure community were contacted. Also, the researcher also elicited data through observation and participation.
This research is categorized into five chapters; chapter one comprises the background of study and other introduction issues. Chapter two comprises a review of relevant literature that are useful and helpful to this study. Chapter three focuses on research methodology while chapter four deals with analysis of data collected; chapter five is basically on the findings and conclusion of the present work.
