ABSTRACT
This work is a pragmatic analysis of Impoliteness on selected Nigerian TikTok videos. The study employs a quantitative and primary research approach, drawing data from Taooma, Broda Shaggi, Layi Wasabi and Brain Jotter Social media sensation videos. The paper adopts Culpeper’s impoliteness strategies theory as a framework to identify and explore the findings. The research highlights various face threatening acts and sarcasm in the selected Nigerian TikTok comedies as well as bald on record words in the dialogue of the characters in the selected TikTok videos. By exploring the hidden and inherent meanings of some utterances and actions in the selected TikTok videos, this research bridges the gap for easy understanding of some actions in the selected Nigerian TikTok videos. The subalterns in Esiaba Irobi’s Hangmen also Die and Nwokedi suffer socio-economic pressure such as unemployment, poverty, corruption and marginalization which propel them to fight for liberation through reorientation, resistance and violence
