ABSTRACT
Pictures in these contemporary times have garnered massive recognition over the course of time progression as the dissemination of photographs are now more dominant as ever, which displays the impact these tangible immortal snapshots have on the human mind and time. The method adapted in this research paper using the comprehensive expository approach to expose and enlighten spectators on their consumption of these visual representations, their perceptual and non-perceptual theories and how pictures shape the cognitive processes involved in the human mind’s interpretation of pictures. The objective of this research is to point out the ethical implications of pictures in this modern time and age as the use of editing softwares to aid manipulation of pictures as it pertains to further of consumption of images negatively as relating to reality contradicting Wittgenstein’s picture theory that posits that language and pictures mirror reality. Pictures which have become more relevant than ever in this age with the rise of social media platforms is one which its impact should be a subject of education to everyone thus this philosophical investigation.
