ABSTRACT
This study gives a clear definition of the meaning of cybercrime and its social implication in contemporary Nigeria. It attempts a conceptual analysis of cybercrime including its categories, types and impacts. It also analysis some classical ethical theories such as utilitarianism and duty ethics. It argues that their principles go against cybercrime. It then focuses specifically on cybercrime and its problems in Nigeria, detailing on causes, social implication and remedy. It delves into the ethical implication of cybercrime which include violation of privacy, financial harm, and disruption of services. It also looks at how technology became a foundation of cybercrime, the causes of cybercrime which include unemployment, peer pressure, weak laws and corruption. The social implication and impact of cybercrime in contemporary Nigeria was not left out. It also suggest a way out of cybercrime and how the country can curb this practice.
