ABSTRACT

This work examines speech language disorder in Aphasia it tends to investigate the types of Aphasia as recorded in Aphasic patients and the possible causes of Aphasia and its effect on speech production. Previous studies on Aphasic patients has largely focused on global effect of Aphasia on each patient without recourse to age this study tends to explore the gap in relation to age. Data for this study was collected from direct interview and interactions with the Aphasiac patient. The data adopted the theoretical method of syntactic mentalist theory which concerns the linguistic implicit of language and speech disorder. The study reviews that patients with Aphasia has difficulties in producing bulk of linguistic behaviour. An Aphasiac patient manifest in their behaviour the inability to produce certain speech sounds effectively. It is also an evidence of deficiency in comprehension of utterances in Aphasia.
