SUMMARY OF FINDING

This project work  reports  on  the gender inequality  of  the Nne and Nna Igbo personal names.  one  would  observe  that  gender  played  a key  role  in  the analysis  of  the data collected. Nna  data was much as compared to Nnes’. These data was analyzed syntactically, lexically, significantly and asymmetrically.

The Igbo  personal names having  the  affixes  of Nne or Nne  appeared either  at   initial, medial  or  final  position  for  the  clauses  and  came before  or  after  the  stem  for the  compound  category.  I  also  observed that  personal  names  that had  Nne  begin  the  name  appeared in  this structure of tone marking “Ńné” for  the  names that ended  with Nne appeared   in  this  structure   of  tone  marking “ńnē”while  for the  personal  names  that  had Nna begin or end the names appeared in  this structure Ńnà  except  for Ńnāòrà which i believe  occurred because  of  the oral  vowel /o/ that  / a /  preceded .

I also  observed that  the  meaning  explanation  of  the  data  for Nna personal  names  showed male child superiority while  the  reverse  was  for the case  for  Nne personal names.
