ABSTRACT
Language and style are the basic modes of communication and information. This Project work will focus on Linguistic Analysis of Telecommunication Products in Handbills, using a case study of four telecommunication outfits. They centered on word and utterances and focus beyond these two aspects. Stylistics is based mainly on interpretation of texts from a linguistic perspective. A stylistic analysis of telecommunication products advertisement in handbills is carried out to educate, explicate and expose to everybody that comes across this write up, in guiding them on how to analyze an advertisement they come across.
Basically, the objectives of this study seek to present content analysis of four telecommunication advertisement in print media from the perspective of sociolinguistics. It compares the style of the language of these advertisements of four telecommunication outfits. And it classifies and identifies the element of language being used to identify how linguistic devices have contributed to the beauty of the language used in the advertisements.
The data used to illustrate this work are systematically sourced from some adverts in four telecommunication outfits in Edo State, Nigeria. The graphological and phonological, lexical, syntactic and semantic devices are the main stylistic elements used in this study.
Finally, during the course of this work, it was discovered that each of these elements function well enough to contribute to the effective use of words in advertisement. It can therefore be concluded that these elements trigger and play important roles in passing the intention of the advertiser to the readers.
