ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the linguistics analysis of Iguẹ festival songs. Iguẹ festival started long time ago but became pronounced after Ọba Ewuare I (Ogidigan) came to the throne. Data for this study was collected from competent native speakers of the language. The theoretical framework for this study is descriptive linguistic. Findings showed that Iguẹ festival songs is more prayers of thanksgiving than being occultic and fetish. The study recommends that it should be transmitted from generation to generation.
