Summary of Findings
The study surveyed the both the internal and external structure of the famous iguẹ festival and the songs which are performed during this period.
The data gathered in the course of this study is well documented in the most recent and correct Ẹdo orthography. The nature of lexical content of the songs was analyzed and the study was carried out within the analytical descriptive frame work.
The study brought awareness on the true nature of the festival and show the little diversity of what people know and what it actually is i.e in the aspect of some of the songs which are performed.
The study shows that one must admit that it is true that the famous igue festival songs of the Edo people of Nigeria has great value, cultural morals and historical importance.
