ABSTRACT
This study examined the various errors found in the translations of some selected Benin home videos into Standard English. The work focuses on grammatical errors and in the process examined spelling error, concord error, tense error and punctuation error. Based on the theory of error analysis used, the study presented samples of grammatical errors committed in the translation of Benin language into Standard English in some selected Benin home videos. Following the method of the error analysis, the errors were identified, described and explained by tracing of the cause of each of the error expression. This study clearly showed that the errors found in the translation of the selected Benin home videos have negative influence on Benin children, youth/students in their academic performance. On the basis of this, measures need to be put in place to ensure that the grammatical competence of Benin children and teenagers are not contaminated through these avoidable errors.
