ABSTRACT
Language is a human activity, part of this understanding is that through language Man communicate with one another this holds two implications; One, language is extricably tied to a people's culture, through language, human values, heritages that are hitherto unravel are laid bare for the mutual benefit of all. Two, since Man is therefore thrown into existence, it is through language that he can express himself. Language is an act that is learnt, it varies from place to place. The problems of s language is an unending one. An attempt to reconcile these problems was the focus of the analytic philosophers. How are we able to say or mean something with words, signs, symbols and sounds?. What exactly is the meaning of these words, signs, symbols and sounds?. Answer to these questions and more was what Wittgenstein tried to resolve in the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus and the Philosophical Investigation respectively. The connection of his two theories of language to the world would be examined since his language theory was an attempt to answer metaphysical questions.
