ABSTRACT
Socrates once said an unexamined life is not worth living. Hence this is another attempt amongst many others in a bid to discover the innate truth of the reality that encompasses our perceivable universe. Friedrich Nietzsche is the first among many to attack the questions of philosophy the way he did. His unique style of reasoning and his methods are flexible and they attack Western foundation of thought right at the center. He seeks to uncover the old lie of morality and replace it with an overriding superman morality. Breaking down the lines of subjectivism, this paper aims to cross check the dichotomy between the two argued values and co relate it with the Nigerian situation and see what brings about the best for humanity going forward. It is not a step to totally destroy the old moral tradition, as those traditions cannot be completely ruled out, but it finds a way of synthesizing the old moral traditions with Nietzsche’s view of morality by employing the tool of thesis-anti-thesis-synthesis. Hence, this project work charges us that while upholding the old moral traditions, we should give consideration to Nietzsche’s notion of morality. Thus, this project work tries to relate the relevance of Frederick Nietzsche’s notion of morality to the Nigerian socio-political space.
