CONCLUSION
Infertility and polygamy are both distinct sides of a marital union. While former is problematic to any home, whether polygamous or monogamous, the later apart from the fact that it is recommended as a form of solution to the former, is problematic in itself. This essay has examined both infertility and polygamy and their impact in marriages and made some findings. Infertility in African marriages is like a taboo and is completely frowned against. However, the patriarchal underpinnings of the roles that govern African society posses a threat to the smooth handling of the problem of infertility. This is because the women are always to blame for a lack of children, with no thoughts given to the fact that the man produces the sperm that fertilizes the eggs. Consequently, African societies are drowned in the pool of their own rules as they not only overwhelm the women, but equip them to seek different outlets to express themselves or subtly antagonize these laws that do not provide a space for the women in the society to be heard.
