A CONSIDERATION OF THE ORTHOGRAPHY IN SOCIAL NETWORKING: FACEBOOK AS A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

The study investigates language use in facebook among undergraduate students of University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State. Nigeria. It adopted sampling technique method and used 50 respondents. The data were analyzed using the interactional view theories of Paul Watzlawick. The study shows that the styles, vocabularies and the abbreviations of word help student to learn new words forms. The study therefore conclude that student mostly abbreviate word and this follows some phonological process of the real word.
