ABSTRACT

Recent research has shown that parts of some plants contain chemicals such as terpenoids and flavonoids that possess antioxidant properties. But there is a growing demand for these plants, thus necessitating the search for alternative more plants that possess not just antioxidant characteristics, but very good antioxidant characteristics. This study aims to evaluate the antioxidant activities of  Gangronema latifolium leaves, Vernonia amygdalina leaves, and Azadirachta indica leaves with a view to ascertaining which has the best antioxidant potential. Standard methods were used to determine the phytochemical composition, DPPH scavenging activity, FRAP, and Nitric Oxide scavenging activity. The result obtained shows that A. Indica has better antioxidant properties.
